Media Violence : Formal Tone

This essay was not very impressive from beginning to end. It was not well written and did not flow. The author used some good points that were supported by evidence but did not do a good job of relating his points to the thesis. On one hand, the author presents evidence that supports the idea that media violence is influencing adolescents and on the other, they conclude by stating that there other factors that contribute to violence other than the media.

The author presents various points that attempt to convince that reader that media violence is in fact a negative influence. The author then concludes the essay with this contradicting statement “It is going to take a lot more than rating, advisories, and cleaning up the t.v. schedule to deal and prevent the problem of violence in America. We should not blame television while ignoring our own responsibilities as parents, caretakers, and adults.” By adding at the end of the essay that it was not just the fault of television the author is going against his previous points.

The tone of this essay was in fact formal however not very persuasive.
